Vallee D'Eure, Parc D'Uzesd Parc.

The Vallee D'Eure is one of the regions great little secrets. You can walk , often without seeing more than a handful of people, for several kilometres beside the river, across meadows with donkeys and horses, and through ancient trees. Stop at the old mill building and see the flood levels that can ravage the valley, dating back to the 1700s. If you want peace and tranquility in a beautiful setting, don't miss this place.

The Roman settlement Nimes 2000 years ago was inhabited by several thousands of people. At this time already the water for the town came from Uzes. This small town was also founded over 2000 years ago. The start of the water's journey to Nimes was in a beautiful large park in Uzes, which can be reached from town on foot via a fairly steep path down the hill, or from a car park at the bottom. The well is in the Vallee D'Eure which is today a very well maintained Parc.

This was Roman architectural art 20 centuries ago: The Romans had build the “Pont du Gard”, a famous aqueduct with its three tiers of arches taking water from a gushing spring at Uzes, along 50km via the aqueduct across the Gardon river via the Pont du Gard and arriving at Nimes, just 3 metres lower.

Today two gardeners are the soul of the park “Vallee D'Eure”. They work every day all over the valley and the result is perfect - they neither use pesticides nor do they interfere much with the natural circuit of the seasons of the park. You can actually only guess their work and that is why they are actually "only" the caretakers of nature. Two very friendly French guys!
