From 2014 on the European Central Bank, ECB, will control about 130 of the most important banks in the €uro zone. Since the ECB has control rights granted by the EU Parliament a vote from a large majority for the central bank supervision can be expected. This supervision had been postponed several times. So lets see how the clean up begins. I began recently to monitor with a drone and was choosing the ECB as a sample.
The drone can carry a normal DSLR. The flying time is thanks to the much lower weight of the camera, described below, approximately 15 minutes, then the 8 rotors have used up the energy in the batteries. Will see how it works over yachts. The drone is very difficult to navigate and wind is really a concern. Smashing drone and camera is quite costly. Also, bureaucracy kills: in Germany even such short test must be requested and permitted. Here in France authorities are a bit more tolerant. But most assignments are luckily in the South of France and Italy.
In order not to haul unnecessary extra weight I used a OMD E-M1 with a new 12-40mm. This 16 pix camera has perfect functions and in combination with the lens she does not only has just half the weight of their competitors from Nikon and Canon, but its sensor has a "On-sensor Phase Detection" which allows to fine-tune the auto-focus for each of the 37 phase-detection points. Moreover the E-M1 can track-focus on a moving object while shooting at 6.5 fps, with a buffer of 60 frames when shooting RAW.
This all results in a stunning image quality when the camera actually is so far away up in the air. Because flying the drone is not as easy as it looks like its is better to work in a team of two, so one can fly while the other is using the remote control and wifi. The primary function of the E-M1's Wi-Fi feature is to transfer images from the camera off to a smart-phone - either your own or that of a friend - and it tries to make this as simple as possible. In addition to transferring images from the camera, the E-M1 can also be remotely controlled from a smart-phone. The Videography feature with its 1920 x 1080 (30 fps) is as well enough for a good quality and the times for hiring a copter are hopefully over.
No, not since Facebook but since ancient times grotesque faces or frightening designed human-like faces are showing often a mythical creature or a deity Dar. The sculptures name derives from the architectural term “mascaron” – an ornamental face, whose function allegedly is to scare away evil spirits. The intended facial statement varies between jest and allegory.
Previously in earlier centuries everything was not so bloody. One upon a time people believed they can chase evil with masks. Under the bridge, "Pont Neuf" you can find a Picture Dictionary of Grotesque Human Expressions who are allegedly scare off the evil.
The grimacing parade of 381 grotesque stone heads under the oldest Parisian bridge is hardly something you see every day. The bridge is covered with faces…lots of strange faces. They are each unique and individual. Today I have designed a 100 cm X 200 cm poster with 100 of the most bizarre portraits and printed it out on my new plotter to fight the evil. Its now at the entrance door of the studio. Get in touch if you would like to have a print.
and here it goes 100 more faces
