![]() Corniche Beirut: The Corniche Beirut is a seaside promenade in Beirut , Lebanon . Lined with palm trees, the waterfront boulevard offers visitors a several kilometer long walk along the seaside in the city. Because Beirut is full of contrasts where rich Arabs from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are coming to enjoy their vacations it is also often know as the "Paris of the Middle East". At the promenade "Corniche" everybody is talking to everybody, the long civil war is over but somebody still is always keen to stir the pot. How is it possible that those thousands of displaced people from the south of Lebanon could be allowed to settle in the entire circumference of the international airport? And who controls these displaced people who came to Beirut from other regions to seek shelter? I got the answer a taxi driver as he could hear that I was speaking some Farsi on my cell to a editor of a wire-service. The next day he came with a whole "delegation" to show me the wild accommodations... |
