Not even 16 years ago, the UNHCR had not done anything, nothing as thousands of people have had to flee their homes after a “humanitarian” intervention. It was NATO’s war in Kosovo. NATO was bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, bombing the TV station. Over a hundred thousand Roma and Ashkali have had to flee for their lives from Kosovo, fleeing to Montenegro and from there crossing with the help of traffickers the Adriatic sea to Italy. Under the presence of UNMIK, NATO and UNHCR these people have had to flee. Media at the same time refused to mention the flight. What today is so different? Does refugees suffer now more then the Roma and Ashkali 16 years ago?
How bizarr the situation has got you can see at the “EC-Turkey-Extortion-Summit” in Brussels: The only thing Sultan Erdogan and his Vizier Davutoglu want is EU money. EU had “offered” – or the Sultan Erdogan had extorted – 3 billion euros last November. Now it has ballooned to 6 billion euros over 3 years. Erdogan has been complaining out loud he still ain’t got the cash. The European Community is on the verge to fall apart because of such policies. Sultan Erdogan and Vizier, Davutoglu, on top of it, are demanding a visa-free EU for 75 million Turks by June 1st; most EU members are having dreadful nightmares about it. They also want a restart of Turkey’s EU accession talks and this while most EU members want zero Turkey accession. Davutoglu also wants every Syrian returned to Turkey from the Greek islands to be matched by one Syrian resettled in Europe and yet almost no European member country wants to resettle them. Davutoglu also promised Ankara will tackle people smuggling. No they won’t; their priority is war on the Kurds. So they will expel Kurds en mass, equipping Iraqi, Syrian and Turkish Kurds with Turkish passports for the enrichment of corrupt local authorities. All over the same as 16 years ago Dukanovic was handling the Kosovo Romas while his brother was running a speedboat service crossing the Adriatic sea to smuggle the refugees into Italy. I think the UNHCR people must think first before they talk and blame Europe. The way the UNHCR was treading people in post-war Kosovo was closer to being humanitarian parasites for huge wages of 10.000 USD per month, then it have had to do with their duty it was receiving astronomical amounts of money. If the UNHCR today demands from the European Community to host refugees and economical migrants it should direct these demands straight to France and UK , to Cameron and Hollande / Sarkozy who are most responsible for the turmoil of Syria with their dull twaddle about "moderate rebels". The bloody history that modern interventionists like George W. Bush, Cameron and Hollande / Sarkozy miss when they recite their narcissistic trope that Mideast nationalists “hate us for our freedoms.” For the most part they don’t; instead they hate us for the way we betrayed those freedoms—our own ideals—within their borders. Merkel and the crew she is surrounding herself are now reaching out to the stars and shift the refugee crisis to the next level: they want to "combat" the reasons for the flight of people. How naiv is this? Just this morning the Kurdish YPG are claiming that Free Syrian Army / New Syrian Army / Syrian Opposition have used a chemical weapon in the Sheikh Maqsood neighbourhood of Aleppo today... The main-stream media and think-tank-pundits surly will blame Assad again for it… Now Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is certainly not a member of the conspiracy theorists but his essay in the Politico, “Why the Arabs Don’t Want Us in Syria” delivers far more inside into the current problems then UNHCR and IOM, because as long as the American and European public and policymakers are unaware of the past, further interventions are likely only to compound the crisis and not as German’s Merkel is thinking “combating the reasons for the refugee crisis. |
