Hotel Photography For Social Media And Reviews

is essential for attracting guests and showcasing the unique features of the hotel.
- To capture the ambiance the of Guest Rooms also the decor and amenities should be shown. Just a wide-angle shot to show the entire room is not enough. Most people like to see close-ups of details like bedding and decor. I sometime leave the bed undone to show the hotel is for life and not a sterile place. A few images of common areas like lobby, lounges, and dining areas need to be shown to convey the atmosphere and style. Especially with holiday resorts pools, gyms, spas, and any unique features like rooftop bars or gardens are absolutely a must.
- I use “natural”, available, light, - so most shooting is taking place during the golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) for soft, flattering light. This light is more “warm”. Open curtains and blinds to use natural light because in most cases is makes rooms feel more inviting. To focus on details, the little things that make the hotel special, such as unique decor, food presentation, or personalised touches in the rooms. This details are the soul of the decor. But I also prefer to incorporate Lifestyle Shots of happy looking staff in the breakfast room or later in the evening in the piano-bar. And I would also include people enjoying the hotel e.g. guests relaxing by the pool or dining in the restaurant. This adds a relatable and inviting element to the photos.
- To showcase the surroundings is an integral part of showing the life around the hotel. A cafe bar nearby, a few shopping options. Or, If the hotel is in a scenic location I would include shots of the views or nearby attractions to entice potential guests.
- Of course I use editing software to enhance colours, adjust brightness, increase colours and crop images for better composition and especially correct ‘falling’ lines of furniture and walls because subconcionally they are disturbing for viewers. However, I of course avoid over-editing to maintain authenticity.
- One of the most important aspects for posts on “social”media is a consistent style. This is why we must be clear from the beginning to maintain a consistent aesthetic across all photos to create a recognisable brand identity. This can include colour schemes, filters, framing techniques und of course to clearly visible QR-Code on the photos, which once is scant guides the viewer to the hotels website. Once people engage in scanning a QR code we can utilize user-generated content and can easily encourage guests to share their own photos on social media and tag the hotel (e.g. give you employees all a buss card with a QR-Code that links e.g. to Tripadviser or ny other travel review website. This can provide authentic content and increase engagement.
- To optimize for Social Media I will tailor images for different platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest) by considering the ideal dimensions and formats for each. This again is a tool to engage with viewers with reviews as high-quality images in response to reviews, especially positive ones will reinforce the guest experience and showcase the hotel’s strengths.
